Helsinki in a nutshell summer, 4 nights
See the highlights of Helsinki but live like a local.
Live in a charming private 1-bedroom apartment in a jugend house built in 1910 in the Art Nouveau district of Katajanokka and experience three full days in Helsinki with one prebooked activity for each day leaving you lots of time for exploring the town on your own as well.
On your first day, you have a guided 4h cycle tour giving you a good perception of the town and is location on a peninsula. During the trip, you will see the highlights of the city and if possible, pop into the Rock Church and Oodi library. The tour can be adapted to your wishes. On a beautiful day, it might be nice to cycle along the new bridges in the eastern side of Helsinki.
On next day, you will take a ferry over to Suomenlinna fortress island. Your private guide will tell a lot about history of Helsinki and the role of Suomenlinna fortress island. Please note that in summer months June, July and August, it is alternatively possible to participate on a group guidance.
On third day, you will take the classic m/s Runeberg steam ship from Helsinki to the picturesque, medieval town of Porvoo, see the eastern archipelago and and enjoy fish or vegetarian soup lunch onboard. In Porvoo, you can spend the afternoon as you wish popping in to the cafeterias and little shops in the old town and return by any bus you want (own cost). Alternatively to Porvoo, it is also possible to make a day tour to Tuusula to visit the home of Jean Sibelius or spend a day in the country side picking up berries. .
