Winter Activity Holiday in southern Finland, wild skating, 6 days
Rail roundtrip with tour skating, snowshoeing, snow scooter safari and sauna in Tampere, Kuopio and Puumala
Even in southern parts of Finland lakes get frozen in mid-winter. There is snow for all the well-known winter activities such as snowshoeing, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing but in addition to that there are long wild skating tracks kept in good shape for tour skaters. It is a fun activity or serious sports as you wish.
You don't need to have previous experience in skating. You will start from Tampere where you will get a 2-3-hour introduction to tour skating first. The 20km track is right next to the city. After the skating trip, you will get a transfer back to the hotel to pick up luggage and you are ready to walk to the railway station and take an afternoon train to Kuopio.
Kuopio is located by lake Kallavesi. There is a 12.5km long ice skating track in the middle of town also here. You will get a guided skating trip here as well. In the afternoon, there will be a snowshoeing trip booked for you. You will stay in a hotel suite by lake. Supeior suites have their own sauna. Entrance to the Saana lake spa can be added.
From Kuopio your skating and sauna railtrip continues to Mikkeli. Our driver picks you up to a charming lakeside resort. You will stay in a small villa with own sauna. The tour skating track is 6km long and leaves from the harbour of the resort. As this is already a third time skating, you can well do it self-guided. In the afternoon, you can try something you have never tried before, a safari by electric snowscooter.
Alternatively, at all locations you can choose to use a kicksledge instead of skates. There are also cross-country ski tracks on ice.
