Discover the relaxing effects of nature. Guided cycling and hiking tour Nuuksio National Park.

CARBON FOOTPRINT: 20.69kg CO2 eq / person / day*

Nuuksio National Park is located only 40 km from Helsinki, which makes it possible to escape quickly into wild nature and enjoy typical Finnish scenery with lakes, forests and rugged crags. It is amazing, how silent it is in the forest except the birds, which are singing nonstop. The colors of the forest are fresh green and the air is pure.

You'll start your self-guided low carbon cycle tour  from  Helsinki by picking up the e-bikes and taking a train to Louhela in Vantaa and cycling 30km along the cycle route to Haltia Lake Lodge in Nuuksio National Park.

You will start your next day from the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia with a guided 1-hour tour giving you insights into the Finnish nature and its natural phenomena. In the afternoon you will cycle 4km to the canoeing base camp and take a short guided paddling trip by canoe, hike up to a shelter to have some snacks, and paddle back. The lake is small and sheltered from winds by the steep slopes.

Next day you will change place and cycle 11 km to a lakeside villa, leave your bicycles and panniers there and take a self-guided hiking trip along well-marked tracks.  You will then have sauna and swim as long as you want until it is time to make dinner. Ingredients for a barbeque dinner are at the cabin ready for you. Please note that it is possible to book a hot tub for 320€ as an extra service for your group!

In the morning you will cycle back 32km to Louhela station and take a local train back to Helsinki - or directly to the airport.

PLEASE NOTE! Tours starting on Sunday start from the lakeside villa and end up in Haltia Lake Lodge.

        What to bring

On this tour your luggage will travel with you all the time, in other words there is no additional transfers for your luggage. This is done in order to keep the carbon emissions as low as possible. It also means that you have to pack efficiently so that you can carry everything with you while cycling. On the bikes you will have two (large) saddle bags and optional (small) saddle bag. Cycling is slow tempo, so you can also carry a backpack easily with you.

The weather in Finland can vary rapidly, which means that in addition to basic summer wear it is necessary to bring a good gear of weather proof clothing:

          • Rain coat / jacket (water/wind proof)
          • Long sleeved shirt
          • Trousers (water/wind proof)
          • Good shoes for walking and cycling (water proof)
