Ecological and economical trip to Lapland using train and bus with as many fun activities in snow as possible. You will meet wildlife, reindeer and huskies, experience ice cold conditions by floating and swimming among the ice and by staying overnight in an ice igloo.

Destinations:

Oulu is just an overnight stop on your way to the north. You will get on train right away after arrival and reach Oulu by night and sleep well in a hotel to start with.

Ranua Arctic zoo is on the bus route from Oulu to Rovaniemi. You will have well enough time to walk around the zoo and see the arctic wildlife otherwise impossible to see as the wilderness areas are too large for that. The animals live there in their natural inhabitant and visitors walk around on wooden bridges. If the day is extremely cold, it is possible to rent extra overalls. There is a cafeteria with lunch buffet available.

Rovaniemi is the regional capital of Lapland, best known as the home town of Santa Claus. We have not included a stop at Santa's Village as it is very touristic but in case you do want to get there, it is possible to get there in the morning before visiting the Arktikum Science centre. You can pick up a bus right next to your hotel. We have included an ice-floating experience in Rovaniemi.

Floating in a frozen lake. Come and experience the lightness of your body during the arctic ice floating! Don’t fear the cold as you are totally protected with high quality rescue suit. Let your body and mind float, enjoy this frozen adventure. This guided adventure is safe with a high-quality rescue suit that covers your whole body and keeps you dry. As you have your own clothing under the suit you will not get cold even in the open 0-degree water. Lying down in the ice hole between the ice blocks is something worth trying, the circumstances truly are arctic!

Pyhä-Luosto National Park i s located 2-hour drive by bus from Rovaniemi. The landscape and the snow-loaded trees are extremely beautiful in this area dominated by two Arctic hills Pyhä and Luosto. Luosto is a smaller village, almost unlighted in order to offer the best possible opportunities for northern lights watching. Your hotel has a trail around a small pond you can take on your own and look at the northern sky. You will stay in an authentic Lappish log cabin a few hundred meters from the hotel where breakfast is served. You do have your own kitchen and there is a grocery store should you want to cook yourselves but there is also a restaurant at the hotel . If you want, we can also add a half-pension buffet for 34€/person/night. There is also a small, charming spa i the hotel. We have included one entrance there at the time selected by you.

Activities in Luosto:

1. Amethyst mine visit by pendolino (like a snow tank) is something unique only offered in Pyhä. The amethyst was formed 2000 million years ago. There is nowadays a special gem mine on the top of the hill welcoming visitors to dig up their own gems. (Note! It would also be possible to teke a tour to the Amethyst mine by fatbikes +58,40€/person at 10:45-13.45)

2. Reindeer farm outside Luosto is worth visiting. You will meet their reindeer and get on a ride in a sleigh. Half an hour is quite enough as reindeer are no formula drivers, it is rather a slow ride.If they do have other groups, it might also be possible to eat in the Lappish hut restaurant but this we'll need to check when booking the safari. Transfers are included both ways from your hotel.

Lucky Ranch i s in the middle of nowhere outside the Pyhä ski village. They have built snow igloos where you can stay overnight in cold temperature in sleeping bags made for extreme conditions provided for you but in proper beds. You would get your own igloo.

We have included Finnish sauna with an opportunity to swim in the ice-cold lake. Dinner will be served in warm premises.

Activities in Pyhä:

1. Husky safari 10km - You would end your tour in the most memorable experiences, a dog sledding safari. It is fun to try mushing your own team of huskies. Two people always share a team of huskies and in half the way, you would share the musher. You will be dropped off at hotel Pyhätunturi where you can get something to eat before the bus to the railway station leaves in front of the hotel.
