PYHÄ-LUOSTO NATIONAL PARK is located in southern Lapland, just north enough to give you a versatile glimpse of Lappish nature. The Pyhä-Luosto National Park is a mosaic of open fell and aapa mires, silent old-growth forests and rugged gorges.

There are 75 kilometres of hiking trails and a great variety of guided activities available also in summertime. We have chosen for you hiking and canoeing trips but the activity selections can be adapted to your physical condition and preferences.

Pyhä Igloos offers modern, ecological, high-quality rooms with a north-facing glass igloo over the sleeping space, built from traditional Lappish materials with an eye towards sustainability and green values. The construction of the igloos was carbon neutral, and thier premises use a high volume of solar panels to provide energy, in addition to using exclusively green energy from renewable sources. Their rooms are fitted with many elements and details from Finnish and Scandinavian designers, and there is a sauna adjacent to an outdoor jacuzzi as an extra service for our guests to enjoy.

Activities:

Hiking to the waterfall Pyhäkasteenputous (or a Nordic walk or a northern Lights photography trip, both 2h)

Canoeing along the small river Pyhäjoki(13km). Coffee and drinks are served on the side of the river. The journey is an overall experience of physical activity and sense-awakening and relaxing nature exploration. The pace will be set to accommodate all participants. Alternatively, this activity can take place on lake.

Visiting the Amethyst mine offers you a chance to hear fascinating stories about the geology and history of Lampivaara and learn about the beautiful amethyst. The tour includes digging your own lucky stone to keep and you will visit a small shop where you can buy amethyst souvenirs. The tour starts from Lampivaara cafeteria every hour and takes about 1 hour.

SAVUKOSKI is a very small village in population but geographically a huge wilderness area in the northeastern Lapland. The guesthouse is a typical Finnish wooden house located in the middle of the village. The guest rooms are located on the upper floor of the main building as well as in the sauna building. We only rent this for one group, a maximum of 10 people at a time. A unique chance to meet local people, get a taste of local life and delicious local food!

Activities:

Sauna and hot tub

Hiking in the forest. If it is berry or mushroom season, you can pick some up.

SALLA is located next to the Eastern border of Finland. Here you will stay in charming one-floor and 3-bedroom log cabin apartments, which are served by Salla Reindeer Park, which is located right next to the cabins. Reindeer, husky and snowshoeing safaris all leave from there as well. We recommend these cabins to all kinds of families who want to spend time together avoiding over-touristic locations. Salla Ski village is located 3km away.

Activities:

Reindeer feeding trip with coffee and pastry 1,5h. Salla Reindeer Park is an ancient reindeer pasture where reindeer are wondering free. You will first meet the guide, hear more about reindeer and feed some of them. The entrance ticket to the park is valid for your stay, so you can come back to see the reindeer at any time.

Guided e-fat bike trip takes place in Salla ski village 2h. By an e-fat bike, you can experience the adventurous forest paths and get up to see the breathtaking views from Sallatunturi. You don’t have to be a high-endurance athlete, just someone who’s in good, healthy shape.

Canoe trip to Oulanka National park is breathtaking. Oulanka National Park has been chosen as the most beautiful national park by the Finns. A day trip there starts from the Reindeer Park’s main building where you will get the appropriate gear for canoeing. Everyone will get life vests, water-proof bag and raincoat if needed. You will drive by car to Savilampi about 45km, where the journey continues by 1km walk to the canoes. After the canoes are set on the water, our guide will lead you through techniques and safety things. Calm Oulanka river is nice and easy to paddle. On the way, you have plenty of time to enjoy the nature, wild cliffs and green banks of Oulanka canyon. About half the way we will stop at Taivalköngäs. The guide will prepare lunch by an open fire and serve you black pot coffee, juice and bun. And of course, you can grill a sausage as well. All in all, trip includes about 8km of canoeing and 3km of walking. This is a unique opportunity to see Oulanka National Park and Oulanka canyon from a totally different point of view
